Revolutionizing Home Design with Seyedjalil Mousavi's Vision

The "In Between" project by Seyedjalil Mousavi is a testament to architectural innovation that reimagines the conventional house structure. Inspired by the porches of old Hamadan houses, Mousavi's design blurs the lines between interior and exterior, creating a fluid space that extends the home into the city. This house, with its unique brick "envelopes," offers a living experience that is both intimate and expansively connected to the urban landscape.

Employing traditional materials such as brick and modern elements like white marble and plaster, "In Between" stands as a model of design duality. The construction process was a meticulous blend of old and new, with the brick envelopes providing a rustic charm and the white interiors exuding contemporary elegance. The result is a harmonious balance that pays homage to the past while embracing the present.

The technical specifications of "In Between" reveal a structure that is as practical as it is poetic. Spanning 14 by 10 meters and rising to a height of 11.4 meters, the building accommodates various functional spaces. From parking and storage on the ground floor to a duplex with living quarters and a kitchen, and finally, private bedrooms and additional amenities on the second floor, the design caters to a modern family's needs.

Key to the project's success was the interaction between the design team and the client, who emphasized the importance of a seamless indoor-outdoor connection and the use of traditional materials. The resulting brick porches serve as a testament to this collaboration, fulfilling the client's vision while enhancing the home's functionality.

The journey of "In Between" from concept to reality took place over two years, starting in March 2020 in Hamadan, Iran. The project's completion in February 2022 marked the culmination of extensive research, client-architect discussions, and creative problem-solving to overcome budget constraints and municipal regulations.

Recognized for its creative excellence, "In Between" was awarded the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2024. This accolade celebrates the project's contribution to art, design, and technology, highlighting its role in enhancing quality of life and its potential to inspire future architectural endeavors.
